ST ANN CHAMBER MEET & MINGLE HAILED A SUCCESS

LARGE TURNOUT OF BUSINESS LEADERS — FROM SMALL TO BIG

OCHO RIOS, St Ann; March 3, 2025

“A fantastic event.” That’s how president of the St Ann Chamber of Commerce (SACOC), Dr Ransford Davidson has described the Chamber’s “meet and greet” and networking event held last Thursday, February 27, 2025.

Dozens of business people attended the event at the Smoke  House Plantation restaurant near Priory, St Ann.

Dr Davidson said the attendance and the energy of participants were a signal that “the business community wanted to engage.”

Dr Davidson said the Chamber was deliberate in targeting people from small to large businesses, including single-owner  operations. “Remember, small companies are drivers of economic activity and so we were deliberate in inviting restaurants, people in the arts and persons utilizing their various skills to support their products and service.

He said nearly 20 businesses signed up on the occasion to become members of the Chamber.

Dr Davidson said the event was part of the longer term strategic plan for boosting businesses and lobbying for support for the communities.

Companies represented included the financial institutions, such as banks, insurance companies, loan agencies, small hotels, food and catering related services, event planners, and entertainment services

Frederick Young of St Mary Chamber represented that body. Among past presidents was Leopold Williams, of Sea Crest Hotel; Humphrey Taylor and Vanna Taylor. Secretary of the Chamber Rose Douglas led the admin team.

Jamaica Public Service Co. was the main sponsor. Karen Brown, customer service manager and LeVar Allen area customer service manager led the JPS team.
