When classes resume in January, students of Orange Bay Primary and Infant School will no longer have seven-year-old Oneila Wilks as their schoolmate.
Oneila of Walk Lane district, Orange Bay, Portland is suspected to have drowned in a community pit filled with water on Wednesday, December 20.
Reports from the Portland Police are that about 8:30 a.m., residents saw the girl’s body afloat and alerted the police. On their arrival, police processed the scene and retrieved the body. It was taken to the morgue pending a post-mortem.
Oneila was a Grade 2 student. Principal of Orange Bay Primary and Infant School Gwendolyn Lindsay-Johnson describes Oneila as a quiet and reserved student.
