An elderly St Ann woman is going to court Friday after allegedly being held entering Jamaica with cocaine.
She is 63-year-old Floris Simmonds, a higgler, of Aboukir district in St. Ann.
Police attached to the Narcotics Division arrested and charged Simmonds last weekend and seized a quantity of cocaine at the Sangster International Airport.
Simmonds will answer to charges of possession and dealing in cocaine, attempting to import cocaine and conspiracy to import cocaine.
Reports are that Simmonds, who arrived at the Sangster International Airport about 4:30 p.m., on Sunday, July 24, was nabbed when she was stopped and searched and cocaine weighing approximately 2 .5 pounds found strapped to her body.
She is expected to appear in the St. Andrew Parish Court on Friday, July 29.
Also arrested for attempting to import drugs was 30-year-old Sue Henry, a nail technician, of Morant Road, Kingston 11. She was arrested at Norman Manley International airport, after five pounds of cocaine was found in her knapsack.
The illicit drugs have a combined estimated street value of approximately JMD 4.1 million dollars.
