Six persons are now in the custody of the St Ann police following the seizure of an illegal firearm and ammunition during an operation in Scarborough, Watt Town, St Ann on Friday night, September 29.
The names of those in custody are being withheld pending further investigations.
The police’s information arm, the Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), reported that at about 11:25 pm lawmen were in the Watt Town area, when they signalled the driver of a motorcar with five passengers aboard to stop.
The driver complied and a search of the vehicle and passengers was conducted.
Closer examination revealed a .38 Smith and Wesson revolver containing a round of ammunition was found under the driver’s seat.
All six persons were then taken into custody.
Charges are expected to be laid after the completion of investigations.
