There is still mystery surrounding how four million Jamaican dollars
stolen from a store in Ocho Rios, St Ann was recovered in minutes.
Even bigger mystery is why the owners of the money have not come
forward to tell police what happened and allow charges to be brought
against the two alleged thieves held in connection with the money.
Police know little about it, because the owners have not given a
statement and hence the men held in connection with the reported
theft cannot be charged and brought before the courts.
Two weeks ago, two men walked into an Inbond shop claiming to do
business that included exchanging money. They soon held up a teller
and emptied out a cash register and stole other cash in the store.
They walked out of the business and were close to the getaway car
when private security personnel who had been tipped off about what
happened approached the men, accosted them and held on to them.
The men were subdued and held until police arrived. The money has
been returned to the shop.
But though police asked for a statement none was provided. They
soon had to let go of the men.
