15-Y-O AMONG SUSPECTED ARSONISTS
St Ann Police have charged four males, including a teenager for setting fire to a church and stealing food and other supplies from it.
Exchange Seventh Day Adventist Church was reportedly set ablaze before daylight on Monday February 28. Items were stolen from the building during or before the fire.
Those charged, all from Exchange, for sacrilege and arson are:
- 19-year-old Hassaine Harrilel, otherwise called ‘Duppy’, unemployed of Farm Hill;
- Jamiel McDonald, otherwise called Jamie, unemployed of Cornpiece;
- 21-year-old Dillano Henderson otherwise called ‘Juvi’, barber of Cornpiece,
- A fifteen-year-old who cannot be named or otherwise identified.
Police reports are that sometime between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Monday fire was seen coming from the Exchange Seventh Day Adventist Church. The fire department was called and fire personnel extinguished the blaze.
Damage was estimated to be $1.5 million.
A check at the church revealed that grocery items including sugar, rice, and flour were missing. Parts of a public address system were also reported missing.
Police said they led a targeted raid and arrested the four who were later charged.
