9-20 YEARS FOR CONVICTIONS FOR RAPE, MANSLAUGHTER AND GUN USE
PORT MARIA, St Mary; March 22, 2025
Three men convicted of serious crimes committed in St Mary were sentenced in the Supreme Court in Kingston on March 14, 2025.
The three were on charges ranging from rape and forcible abduction, manslaughter, and the use of a firearm to commit an offence.
According to the St Mary police, the court presided over by Justice Lorna Shelly-Williams, Senior Puisne Judge, handed down sentences of between nine and twenty years in the three cases.
🔹 Javardo Burrell – Convicted for rape, forcible abduction, and robbery with violence was sentenced to 20 years and two months for rape. He must do 12 years before parole. He was also sentenced to four years and two months for forcible abduction.
🔹 Omar Forth – Convicted of manslaughter was sentenced to nine years and one month, and
🔹 Kwamen Adams – Convicted for using a firearm to commit a scheduled offence was sentenced to 15 years for the firearm offence and three months for larceny
In addition, the court ordered Oraine Samuels, who pleaded guilty to attempted murder, to be transferred to Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre for a full psychiatric evaluation before sentencing on April 4, 2025.
The St Mary police, in a release, said “The dedicated efforts of the St. Mary Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) have once again led to justice being served, with the securing of these convictions and sentences.”
