3 PORTLAND TEAMS SET FOR D’CUP-32

ST MARY HIGH BATTLING TO GET SPOT IN ZONE ‘M’

PORT ANTONIO, Portland; October 7, 2024

The three Portland teams in the daCosta Cup schoolboy football competition appear to have secured their places in the Round of 32, the next big step toward the action end of the competition.

Happy Grove are through in their zone ‘L’ with mainly St Thomas schools. They won again on Saturday beating Seaforth 2-0. They have a perfect win record at the top of the zone.

Then the two teams from the Portland capital maintained their lead of the zone ‘M’, beating two rivals from St Mary.

Port Antonio went by St Mary Technical 2-0 and Titchfield clipped St Mary High 1-0, both matches were played on the home ground of the St Mary schools.

There are three spots available from that Zone with one taken by Pt Antonio who have a perfect win record and 21 points from seven matches. Titchfield follow with 16 points and St Mary High are on 12 points battling, with St Mary Technical on 10, for the third spot.

St Mary High are on 12 points and have a crucial match on Wednesday, October 9 against Port Antonio High at Carder Park. Meanwhile, Titchfield could bolster their position with a win against St Mary Technical Tuesday, October 8, also in the Portland capital. St Mary Technical want a win to keep pace with their St Mary High rivals.
