Three men have been charged in two separate incidents of breaking in-one at a school and two at a house in St Ann.

Charged are: 28-year-old Damel Johnson, otherwise called ‘Chillyman’, of Windsor Road, 39-year-old Courtney Smith, vendor of Windsor Heights, both in St. Ann’s Bay, and 21-year-old Dontae Wilkinson of no fixed address and who frequents the parish of St. Ann.

Johnson and Smith have been charged with housebreaking and larceny following an incident on Market Street in St. Ann’s Bay, St. Ann on Friday, September 29.

Reports from the St. Ann’s Bay Police are that between 10:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., on Friday, September 29, a man securely locked his house and retired to bed. He awoke the following morning, about 7:00 a.m., and realized that his house had been broken into and that items, including his cell phones and television set, had been stolen.

A report was immediately made to the police, and an investigation launched. The man’s cell phones were tracked and found in Smith’s possession. Further investigations led the lawmen to Johnson, who handed over the stolen television and a pair of sneakers. Both men were taken into custody, and charges laid against them.

Their court dates are being arranged.

In an earlier incident, Wilkinson was charged for breaking into a school in Ocho Rios in the parish.

The police did not name the school but said the incident took place about 8:20 p.m. Sunday, September 24.

Police reports are that a teen, who was at the school completing an assignment, heard sounds coming from a section of the building and went to investigate. Wilkinson was seen running towards a fence. He reportedly jumped the fence and escaped in the area.

The police were summoned and checks made. It was discovered that Wilkinson gained entry to the building by removing wooden louvre blades from a window; and stole several items.

He was pointed out to the police on Saturday, September 30, and subsequently arrested and charged for breaking into the school and larceny
