Three men were arrested for breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act during an operation by members of the Narcotics Division in Western Jamaica in Adelphi, St. James on Saturday, September 3.
Reports are that about 11:00 p.m., a Coaster bus and two motor cars were stopped and searched and 300 parcels containing compressed ganja and 20 knitted bags totaling 1,560 pounds were found. The identities of the men are being withheld pending further investigations.
The illicit drug that is suspected to have been part of the drugs for guns trade in the region has an estimated street value of J$9.3 million.
The men are scheduled to be interviewed in the presence of their attorneys and thereafter formal charges are to be laid.
