2nd man in D/Bay double murder found guilty

The second man implicated in the murder of a Discovery Bay couple almost six years ago was Thursday afternoon, ( March 2) found guilty by a seven member jury.

Jowayne Alexander will be sentenced on March 16 in the Home Circuit Court in Kingston by Justice Georgiana Fraser.

Alexander was charged for two counts of murder stemming from the August 23, 2011 killing of 53-year-old Norma-Lyn Hall, a senior lecturer and her husband, Neville Hall, 57, a trucker contracted to Noranda Bauxite.

The trial began on Monday in the St Ann Circuit Court.

Critical evidence was given by convict Steve Stewart, who had pleaded guilty last week Tuesday for his part in the murder of the couple and sentenced to life imprisonment.

Stewart testified that he saw Alexander strangle the couple at their  home, near the Queen Highway in Discovery Bay, St Ann.

Stewart said he later assisted Alexander to dump their bodies in bushes in Lake Side, some miles away from where they lived.

Based on a post-mortem report, Mrs Hall died from strangulation, while her husband died from blunt force injury to the head and a heart attack.
