Lovers of music are being promised an evening of excellent musical performances on Sunday, March 1, when North View Christian Preparatory in St. Ann’s Bay, hosts its third annual Evening of Excellence Concert on the school’s grounds at 2 Wharf Street. Organiser of the event, Reverend Carlton Mullings said every effort is being made to ensure that patrons are treated to the top class cultural entertainment package they have come to love since the concert started two years ago. Rev Mullings explained that one of the country’s best musical bands and choir will make an encore presentation following its outstanding performance last year.Rev. Mullings said he is expecting an even greater performance from the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) Band, one of the best in the country. He said the band stunned patrons with its performance last year and he is expecting even greater things on March 1. Additionally, the JCF choir is expected to wow patrons with their performance. “We had them last year and they were so good, it was one of the first time St. Ann’s Bay was having them , that we got them back this year by popular demand,” Rev Mullings said of the JCF band and choir.Other performances for the Evening of Excellence will include noted Jazz singer Dr. Mryna Hague as well as former Gospel Festival winner Edwin Myers. The evening will also feature outstanding keyboard player Andre Campbell. He said there will also be performances from students at the school.
“We are not overloading it because we want these people to give the best to St Ann, we want people to just enjoy it,” Rev Mullings said. He said last year the support was overwhelming and he is expecting even greater support this year.
ELEGANT CULTURAL PERFORMANCES
Rev Mullings said the evening promises to be one of elegant cultural musical performances, which is not often seen in St. Ann’s Bay. He said apart from raising much-needed funds for the school, the concert is also being staged to introduce a different type of musical experience to the people of the parish capital.“It’s a cultural event of the highest standard,” he said. One lucky patron will win a weekend for two at Couples Sans Souci Resort in Ocho Rios as well as a dinner for two at a resort in the Ocho Rios area.
The concert is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. and tickets at a cost of $1,000 for adults and $400 for children below age 12, are available at in Ocho Rios at Simmonds Enterprise, Happy Homes Furniture and Marva’s Shoe Store and Mr Kleen Laundromat, both on Ocean Village Shopping Center.
