The 24 received their certificates at a closing ceremony in the conference room at Area 2 headquarters, headed by acting ACP Glenford Hudson. Mr Hudson in giving the closing remarks spoke about the importance of training and thanked those who had organized and run the sessions. He said the profiles of criminals were changing and so were their tactics and it was thus more challenging for the police. ACP Hudson said the two weeks of training were geared towardbuilding the investigative capacity and skills of the officers. He said they should go and practice what they had learned as that would help build their confidence and trust. He said they were expected to be more committed and innovative on the job.
Guest speaker Franklin McKnight commended the participants and the Force for the training and said Jamaicans wanted to see more crimes being solved and the cleared up rate increase. He encouraged the participants to press their superiors for the tools to better fight crime and said it was time the police stopped taking long hand statements on creased paper now that technology was available.
