The police in two parishes on the north coast are continuing their probe into the slaying of two taxi operators in separate incidents.
Dead are: 43-year-old Evan Richards of Highgate, St Mary and 36-year-old Damion Gordon of Moneague, St Ann.
Richards was found with chop wounds in bushes on Sunday morning, September 24 in Mosquito Hole near Highgate, while Gordon was also found in bushes with several stab wounds in Amity Hall near Moneague, St Ann.
CHOPPED TO DEATH
Several residents of Highgate and surrounding areas are still puzzled as to the reason why Evan Richards met his death in such a gruesome manner.
The police’s Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) in a release stated: “Reports from the Highgate police are that about 6:40 a.m., residents stumbled upon Richards’ body and alerted them. The body was found to have several chop wounds.”
It is said that one of Richards’ hand was also severed.
It was reported that his motorcar was stolen.
The police are continuing their probe into the incident.
Stabbed in front of 4-year-old son
The gruesome stabbing of Moneague taxi operator, Damion Gordon, has also sent chills down the spine of several persons, who have heard of the senseless killing.
Gordon was allegedly stabbed in front of his four-year-old son. The boy is now said to be receiving counselling.
CCU said that at about 4:30 p.m. on Monday, September 25, Gordon picked up a group of men, who chartered him to take them to Guy’s Hill.
However, while on route, Gordon was stabbed multiple times and his body dumped in bushes in the Amity Hall area near Moneague.
All of this reportedly took place in full view of his four-year-old son, who Gordon had picked up from school.
Reports to The Times are that the unknown assailants then left Gordon’s son by the roadside and sped off with the vehicle.
A resident found the boy and persons of the area were later alerted.
Following a search, Gordon’s lifeless body was discovered in bushes.
Head of the St Ann police, superintendent Gary Francis on the weekend, told The Times, that the police have made no breakthrough in the case.
However, he said that investigations are continuing.
