One Incident Involved Beating Of A Farmer
Two St Ann men have been charged with robbery and larceny in separate incidents, one involving break-in at a woman’s house and the other allegedly involved in attacking and robbing a farmer.
In the more recent case, a man who broke into a woman’s house in Parry Town, St. Ann has been charged with burglary and larceny.
He is 25-year-old Clarke Sinclair, a labourer of the same district.
Reports are that about 1:30 a.m. on Monday, April 3, the woman was awakened by sounds coming from her kitchen and went to investigate. Upon seeing her, Clarke allegedly attempted to escape by jumping through a window.
An alarm was raised and Clarke was held by citizens and handed over to the police. His court date is being arranged.
In the other incident, a man who was reportedly among a group who attacked a farmer, tied him up and robbed him has been charged.
Charged is twenty-eight-year-old Floyd Johnson, farmer of Prickly Pole in Claremont, St. Ann.
He has been charged with robbery with aggravation and wounding with intent committed in the community on Sunday, February 12.
Reports are that Johnson was among a group of men, who forced open the door to another farmer’s dwelling and attacked him with machetes and stones. The farmer attempted to flee from his attackers, but was chased and chopped. He was then tied up, robbed of cash, farming appliances and twenty-three (23) goats.
The victim managed to free himself and was assisted by citizens to seek medical treatment.
Johnson was subsequently arrested by the police and charged this week. His court date is being arranged.
