Two men from the Buff Bay area, Portland, have been charged by police, one of them with the murder of 28-year-old Udean Duncan of Hayes, Clarendon.
They are 20-year-old Raymond Edwards otherwise called ‘Jah T’ of Skibo District, just outside Buff Bay, charged with murder and a raft of other offences; and fifty-two-year-old Courtney Nelson, otherwise called ‘Tudo’, woodcarver of Charles Town district, Buff Bay, charged with wounding with Intent.
In addition to murder, Edwards has been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition and using a firearm to commit a felony.
Reports from the Buff Bay Police are that about 8:00 p.m., on Saturday, February 18, Duncan was sitting in the company of several men when Edwards, dressed in a hoodie, approached the group and fired several shots, hitting Duncan. The Police were alerted and Duncan was taken to hospital and pronounced dead.
Edwards was later arrested and subsequently charged, his court date is being finalised
Nelson’s charge arose out of an incident in his community on Thursday, July 4, 2017, more than five years ago.
Reports from the Portland Police are that about 6:00 p.m., Nelson and another man were in a dispute which escalated into a fight. An argument developed and Nelson used a machete to inflict wounds
to the left side of the man. He was transported to the hospital where he was treated.
Nelson was subsequently arrested and charged during a targeted raid of his home on Tuesday, February 21.
His court date is being finalised.
