Two men charged with gun crimes and allegations relating to a 2014 murder in St. Ann had their case mentioned in the St. Ann’s Bay Resident Magistrate court on Tuesday, July 7.
Kimoy Boyce and Ramiesh Mitchell, alias Bam Bam, are charged jointly for murder, wounding with intent, illegal possession of firearm and illegal possession of ammunition. The two are also charged under the Criminal Justice Suppression of Criminal Organization Act (Anti Gang Act) for being a part of a criminal organization and participating in a criminal organization.When the case against both accused men was brought before presiding resident magistrate Andrea Thomas, she was told by the clerk of court that the ballistics report was still outstanding in the matter.Before a further mention date was set in the matter, defence attorney Everol Webster who represents Ramiesh Mitchell, informed RM Thomas that his client was having difficulties taking up his bail and was having certain challenges at the Ocho Rios lock up where he is being held. He was asking RM Thomas to consider reducing the bail and placing Mitchell at another police station.After considering the attorney’s plea, RM Thomas reduced Mitchell’s bail to $400,000 with the same sureties. She also stated that she would consider the application of relocating Mitchell to another holding area of a different police station in the parish. Mitchell (Bam Bam) is to return to court on October 1 when the case is to be mentioned. He was remanded into custody.
The other accused man, Kimoy Boyce had his bail extended with the same conditions. He is to return to court on October 1 when the case is to yet again be mentioned.Boyce and Mitchell (Bam Bam) are charged for a deadly shooting at an event in Pineapple Place in Ocho Rios on October 19, 2014. One woman was killed and a man seriously wounded.The slain woman was 21-year-old Kimone Clarke, unemployed of Mammee Bay South, near Steer Town. Shot and wounded in the incident was Kayson Walker also called ‘Bum Bum’ and ‘Skel’, of a lane at 120 Main Street, Ocho Rios.
Walker, who is in police custody in relation to a 2013 murder, had appeared in the St. Ann Circuit Court in relation to those charges. When the North Coast Times reported the killing and followed up with investigations into it, we reported that Kayson Walker and Kimone Clarke were together at a fish fry, close to midnight on Saturday, October 18. The couple was together when they were approached by a gunman who opened fire. Information was that the gun was aimed at Walker who ducked out of the first shot that struck Clarke in the face and exited through the back of her head. She was shot twice after that and her male companion Walker, chased and shot. He was hospitalized while Clarke died.
