Police today seized two firearms in separate operations in St Ann.
The first firearm, a Taurus 9 mm was seized in Higgin Town, near St Ann’s Bay, early Thursday morning and arrested two people. During that raid, police seized about 100 pounds of ganja.
In the second operation, near mid-day Thursday, February 9, polize seized a second 9 mm firearm and 14 rounds of ammunition, in Steer Town. One man was arrested in this operation.
The two firearms seized Thursday bring to three the number of guns taken off the streets of St Ann by police in less than a week, On Friday last week they seized an AK-47 rifle in Steer Town and arrested a man. The man has size been charged but the details were not immediately available to the North Coast Times.
Superintendent in charge of St Ann police, Gary Francis told The Times: “It’s our continuing effort to make St Ann safe.”
