2 COPS MAIN SUSPECTS IN ST MARY BUSINESSMAN’S MURDER

SUSPECTS HELD IN PORTMORE WITH CASH TAKEN FROM  SINGH, AND GUNS

OCHO RIOS, St Ann; Feb 17, 2026

EXCLUSIVE, TO THE NORTH COAST TIMES

Two policemen are reported to be the main suspects in the murder of a St Mary businessman last week Monday, February 9, 2026.

The North Coast Times can now reveal that the two were held within hours of the pre-dawn murder of 59-year-old businessman Garfield Singh, of Boscobel in St Mary.

The North Coast Times has been tracking the story since police circles began to focus on the two men who were held in a police routine road block in Portmore, St Catherine Monday.

Repeated efforts by the North Coast Times to get confirmation from the St Mary police on details of the arrest of the two cops have gone nowhere.

According to impeccable sources, police manning a spot check in Portmore on Monday noticed a car approaching “in an erratic manner”. They stopped the car, and the occupants immediately identified themselves as police.

However, over the objection of the two young policemen who were occupants of the car, the senior lawman on the scene told officers to proceed with a search of the vehicle. They found a Glock pistol inside and immediately called for backup. A further search yielded a rifle not issued by the JCF.

In a more extensive search of the vehicle, a large sum of cash was recovered. The men were taken to the ‘Hundred Man’ station.

By Wednesday, ballistic reports suggested that the bullet that killed Singh matched the gun found in the car.

Investigations have also spread to identify a security officer in St Mary who was said to have provided detailed directions to Singh’s location and whereabouts.

The North Coast Times, for the last four days, has been asking St Mary police for additional details or confirmation of information told to the Times, but we’ve been told information will be provided in due course.

Reports are that charges will be laid this week after an ID parade.
