HIGHGATE MEN IN ALLEGEDLY ILLEGAL WEAPONS, LOTTERY SCAMMING

Police arrested and charged two men in operations in the Highgate area, St Mary, Thursday morning, March 27, one in connection with illegal firearms and the other for having suspected lottery scamming paraphernalia.
They are 26-year-old Delroy Simmonds, of Tremolsworth, charged with possession of prohibited weapons, and 22-year-old Chadrick Higgins of Dean Pen, charged with possession of identity information. They also seized nearly $800,000 at the premises occupied by Higgins.
The St Mary police said the targeted raids between 5 and 7:30 a.m. were part of ongoing efforts to disrupt criminal activities and enhance public safety and resulted in multiple arrests and the seizure of illegal items.
In Tremolesworth, officers executed a search warrant at a four-apartment board building, where they discovered two imitation firearms resembling a pistol and a revolver, along with accessories such as a magazine, plastic pellets, and spent casings. Simmonds was arrested there and later charged.

In Dean Pen, officers executed another search warrant at a two-storey dwelling, where they detained 22-year-old Chadrick Higgins. A search of the premises led to the discovery of a laptop and a cellular phone containing multiple Microsoft Excel documents with contact information for individuals in the United States, suspected to be targets in lottery scamming activities. Additionally, cash totaling J$724,445.00, US$500.00, and CAN$20.00 was seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
Higgins was arrested and charged with possession of identity information.
