The simple use of a phone charger is alleged to be the cause of a 17-year-old girl stabbing to death her boyfriend at a house in Eight Miles near Claremont in St Ann on Thursday, May 25.
Dead is 23-year-old Akeem Berbick, alias Bum Bum, a farmer of Fowler Town, Alexandria in St Ann.
The teen girl remains in the custody of the police pending charges being laid against her.
The information arm of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), the Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) said that the incident occurred at about 2:15 p.m. last Thursday.
Local police stated that Berbick and his 17-year-old lover had a dispute over the use of a charger. The dispute later escalated and the teen used a knife to stab Berbick, who later succumbed to his injuries at the Alexandria hospital.
Head of the St Ann police, superintendent Gary Francis in an interview with The Times last Friday continued his appeal to persons to find other ways in resolving their disputes rather than turning to violence.
Berbick’s murder was the fifth to be recorded in less than two weeks in the parish and the third to be recorded last week.
