11 Months Later, Police Charge St Ann Man For Murder

MURDER WAS IN MAMMEE BAY

 

 

A St Ann man has been charged with a murder committed 11 months ago in the parish.

Charged with murder is twenty-one-year-old Imaro McKenzie, otherwise called ‘Six’, of Dam Head, Steer Town. He was also charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition following the shooting death of a man in his community on Saturday, July 2, 2022.

The deceased has been identified as 29-year-old Chevaughn Jones, otherwise called ‘Ziggy’, of Greenwich Acres, Mammee Bay, in the parish.

Reports from the St. Ann’s Bay Police are that about 9:30 p.m., on Friday, July 01, Jones was at a shop in the area when he was pounced upon by McKenzie who opened gunfire hitting him in the upper body. The Police were alerted and Jones was taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. On Wednesday, May 17, 2023, McKenzie was taken into custody and charged after a question-and-answer interview was conducted in the presence of his attorney.

His court date is being finalized. -30-
